Welcome to the website of Soroptimist International of Vallejo. I invite you to explore each page and see how we are improving the lives of women and girls here in Vallejo and throughout the world.
Look for our opening doors with scholarships for young women, helping young mothers receive further education with the Women’s Opportunity Award, recognizing women in our community through our Ruby Award: Women Helping Women, and encouraging girls to volunteer in their community through the Violet Richardson award. We also help service women in the war zone through our association with other area Soroptmist Clubs and the Blue Star Mothers, enroll in cancer studies to examine what environmental, genetic, and lifestyle factors lead to the development of the disease, furnish a room at the Christian Help Center for a homeless woman, and many, many other projects.
Our grants made through our philanthropic service program help like minded organizations with women and girl centered programs, whether it is sending girls to a wrestling match, providing office tools to our local women’s shelter, or paying for a foster girl’s graduation expenses.
Concurrent with our service, we have fundraising to support our service projects and philanthropic grants. It is with your financial help and the help of others like you that our service and philanthropic projects are funded.
And please don’t forget to look at our activities. We have fun no matter where we are–a meeting, a fundraiser, doing service–but we really let our hair down and get to know each other at our shared celebrations. This is one of the main ways that we bond and it is through that bonding that we become even more effective in our service and fundraising.
